Supporters argue it protects patient choice and independent pharmacies; critics of similar bills in other states argue mandates like these raise administrative costs that ultimately get passed on to employer health plans.

Methodology

How this estimate is calculated.

Dispensing fee impact. We model a per-prescription dispensing-fee differential between a "low-volume" and "high-volume" pharmacy, then multiply by your annual prescription count to estimate the added cost if the low-volume rate becomes the effective floor.
Small-pharmacy premium. The percentage difference between the low- and high-volume per-prescription rates, shown both as a percentage and a dollar amount.
Specialty drug impact. Your reported annual specialty pharmacy spend, multiplied by an adjustable estimated percent increase (default 20%, adjustable 0%–50%) representing potential cost pressure from pharmacy network disruption.
Administrative overhead. A flat 3% applied to the combined dispensing-fee and specialty-drug impact, representing typical plan repricing and PBM contract revision costs.
Total. Dispensing fee (low-volume) + specialty drug increase + administrative overhead = total estimated annual impact.
